In a statement issued on Friday, Sadhraich said farmers had repeatedly highlighted the collapse of agricultural policies, unfair marketing practices, rising production costs, and the growing influence of middlemen and commission mafias. However, he alleged that successive governments ignored these concerns while protecting vested interests. He said farmers had lost confidence in the existing system due to anti-farmer policies, delayed wheat procurement, inconsistent pricing, expensive agricultural inputs, and weak market regulation, leaving cultivators to sell crops below production costs while consumers continued to pay high prices. Sadhraich maintained that Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks should be viewed as an acknowledgment of deep structural flaws in governance, particularly in the agriculture sector. He urged policymakers to accept responsibility and implement meaningful reforms instead of offering temporary solutions. The PTI Farmers’ Wing spokesman called for comprehensive agricultural reforms, including transparent policies, timely procurement, cost-based support prices, strict action against market manipulation, affordable farm inputs, and greater investment in agricultural research. He warned that Pakistan could not achieve sustainable economic growth while neglecting agriculture, which supports rural livelihoods, provides raw materials to industry, and contributes significantly to exports. Sadhraich urged the government to treat the Interior Minister’s statement as an opportunity for immediate corrective action, saying the real tragedy was that millions of farmers had warned of the crisis for years but were ignored. He stressed that restoring farmers’ confidence would require justice, transparency, and policies that prioritize growers over vested interests.

Speaking after a consultative meeting with representatives of farmers' organizations and PTI Farmers Wing office-bearers, Sadhraich said the initiative is inspired by former Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision of environmental protection and public participation. He stressed that safeguarding the environment is a national responsibility that goes beyond political affiliations. Reaffirming support for the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami vision, Sadhraich said Pakistan faces growing threats from climate change, including rising temperatures, heatwaves, floods, droughts, glacial melting, soil erosion and air pollution. He described large-scale tree plantation as one of the most effective and affordable ways to address these challenges, improve biodiversity, conserve water resources and strengthen agricultural productivity. He said the PTI Farmers Wing will launch a nationwide awareness campaign, encouraging citizens to plant and protect trees while appealing to philanthropists and businesses to donate saplings for plantation drives. Sadhraich announced that the campaign will be launched simultaneously in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and all four provinces, and urged federal and provincial governments to make tree plantation a national priority by encouraging every citizen to plant at least 10 trees during the monsoon season and ensure their survival. Calling on schools, colleges, universities, teachers, students and religious scholars to support the campaign, Sadhraich said tree plantation should become a symbol of national unity and a meaningful way to celebrate Independence Day by leaving a greener Pakistan for future generations.

In a statement, he warned that the 2026 monsoon season is expected to be significantly heavier, raising fears of severe flooding and possible gla- cial lake outburst floods. He said rising temperatures and rapid glacier melting could trigger dangerous flood situations across the country, stressing that any delay in preparations could put millions of people-especially farmers and rural communities-at risk. Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich recalled that last year's floods caused wide- spread destruction, including loss of homes, crops, livestock, and agricul- tural land, while victims were not fully compensated despite official claims. He called on federal and pro- vincial governments, irrigation departments and local administra- tions to immediately clean drainage channels, strengthen embankments, deploy rescue machinery, and set up emer- gency relief camps. He further highlighted that farm- ers are already facing severe eco- nomic pressure due to rising input costs and falling crop prices, warn- ing that another disaster without preparation could severely damage the agricultural sector and national economy. He also appealed for a comprehen- sive flood management strategy, transparent relief operations, and timely compensation for affected families. At the end of his statement, he paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their professional- ism and sacrifices in national defense, expressing solidarity with martyrs and praising the country's security institutions.

He said that solvable problems being faced by the farming commu- nity are silently stalling the nation's breadbasket coupled with possible loss of farmers. Highlighting a surge of complaints from farmers across Punjab and other provinces in a statement issued here on Tuesday, he pointed out that thresher manufacturing units are currently paralyzed by prolonged, unannounced power outages and the restrictive 8:00 PM business closure. This has left manufacturers unable to fulfill urgent orders for essential har- vesting machinery, creating a mas- sive shortage of threshers at the height of the harvesting season. He emphasized that this delay is causing grains to drop from the ears of the wheat, while the looming threat of rain is fueling deep anxiety and despair among the farming community. Sadhraich demanded that provincial governments take immediate notice, ensuring an unin- terrupted power supply to thresher factories and exempting them from early closure mandates so they can work around the clock to meet demand. Furthermore, he called on the government to set the wheat sup- port price at 5,500 rupees to reflect the current inflation rate, while ensuring timely procurement at des- ignated centers. He also urged a tar- geted reduction in petrol prices for the transportation of crops from fields to markets to prevent further financial losses for farmers. "For farmers racing to beat the unpredict- able weather, this double-lock on productivity is turning the hop of a bumper crop into a logistical night- mare", he concluded.
